Pet owners themselves, Jorge & Albert knew that simply spraying the dog with perfume or cologne was not a good solution. Why? First, perfume in a bottle smells very differently once on a dog or cat (give it a few minutes, you'll see). Secondly, many pets experience skin irritation after contact with perfumes/cologne.
After a good amount of research, trial and error, and luck, the brothers found a flexible material that could be molded into any shape and infused with natural, non-toxic scents to be released over time using the body heat of the pet itself.
Their first design used this material to make an entire scented collar - but this proved to be impractical in practice. Prototype after prototype, the idea was further refined and perfected until many models later the original Frescopet was born. Jorge concentrated on making the mold for the Frescopet while Albert set about to patent their idea. In 2001, all their hard work was rewarded with a US Patent. |
